  • Chalfonts GCSE Results Improve Across the Board

    Published 03/09/18

The Chalfonts Community College enjoyed improved CGSE results just a week after the improved A-Level results were released. On Thursday 23 August our Year 11 students celebrated a great set of results at GCSE and BTEC. This is the third year of the new principal, Mr Russell Denial, being at the helm and shows how the school is heading to greater heights. The Attainment 8 score improved to 45.93, the percentage of students gaining a standard pass (Level 4+) in English was 88% and for Maths this was 72%, both up on last year. In fact, 68% of students gained English and Maths standard passes; another improvement on the 2017 figures.

Two exceptional students gained 10 GCSEs at Level 7 or above, namely Riya Chard (including 2 Level 9s) and Lilly Majewski (2 at Level 9 and a Distinction*in PE).  Alexandra Sayers gained 9 GCSEs at Level 7 or above (including 4 Level 9s) and Josh Williams gained 8 GCSEs at Level 7 and above. There were a further 6 students that gained 7 GCSEs at Level 7 and above, with DoOma Koizumi having 4 grade 9s.

There were some outstanding departmental results with over 25% of students awarded a Level 7 (A-grade equivalent) or above in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Dance and Design Technology (Textiles) and PE. It is this breadth of success in traditional academic, the performing arts and BTECs that makes this such an inclusive school. We wish all the best to our students as they move to the next chapter of their lives.

  • Year 10 Humbled by Jewish Experiences in Auschwitz

    Published 16/07/18

On Friday 6th July, 49 students from Year 10 waited patiently at Heathrow Terminal 5 to get on a plane to travel, for what was to be both an emotional and educational journey as well as one full of fun, laughter and comradery. For some of our students, to be on a plane was very exciting as they had never been abroad. As a surprise Ms Tahmazian arranged for those students to visit the cockpit and meet the pilot which made the trip extra special.
