Introduction to Sixth Form

The Chalfonts Community College is committed to being a learning community. We invite students who have reached the age of 16 and who want to carry on their learning to join us.

We are dedicated to helping 6th formers achieve success in their chosen learning pathway. The only condition is that you enjoy academic work, have a thirst for knowledge and are prepared to work hard. If you can commit to these expectations we will guarantee your success.

6th form students play a major part in determining the success of this school. We are immensely proud of our current students, their predecessors and all of their achievements. We have high expectations of both students and teachers and we never settle for anything less than your personal best.

As a 6th form student you will be treated with respect. You will be trusted and will enjoy privileges and freedoms which are not afforded to younger students. In return, we expect you to be a mature, responsible young adult and a good role model for younger students.

Teachers enjoy working with 6th form students; they appreciate their maturity and the fact that they have chosen to continue their education. They want to communicate and share their knowledge and passion for their subject and will always go that extra mile to help and support you.

All students are allocated a group tutor. Your tutor will be concerned with your personal welfare; they will support your learning, monitor your progress closely and help you to set targets to achieve your full potential.

You will also be helped to develop the independent learning skills necessary for success with us and for the next stage, whether that is Higher Education or employment.

Student destinations in the last five years include a wide range of universities such as Birmingham, Exeter, Loughborough, Queen Mary, Southampton and UCL. With an A*-C pass rate of 66% and an A*-E pass rate of 96%, plus a long-standing reputation for excellence in vocational courses, we are confident that we have a recipe for success. How much would you like to be a part of it?

What the students have to say

The best years of my life have been spent during my time at The Chalfonts Community College and I will always be extremely thankful to the amazing teaching staff who  always supported me to ensure my success. The school  gave me endless opportunities, both academically and in sports which is why my decision to stay on into the sixth form was so easy. I am proud to say I was a Chalfonts Community College Student. Holly, Head Girl of 2019, now studying Physiotherapy at Brunel University.

As an external student who had achieved good grades at GCSE, I decided to apply to The Chalfonts Community College due to the wide variety of subjects on offer and the fantastic past results.  Since joining the sixth form, I can honestly say that it has been the best decision that I have ever made.  The other students have made me feel extremely welcome and I felt 'at home' as soon as i arrived.  I looked at many different schools in the area and none of them inspired me like The Chalfonts.  If anyone is looking for a fresh start with enthusiastic teachers, friendly welcoming staff and students - look no further than CCC. Lucy, Year 12 student

I chose to stay on at The Chalfonts as I have always felt so happy and at home here.  The teachers deliver a high standard of lessons and I believe that this school can help me achieve my aspirations.  I applied to and was accepted for a prestigious grammar school in the area for Sixth Form but I declined the offer as I knew that The Chalfonts had everything I needed and more. Daniel, Year 13 student

I chose to say at The Chalfonts for sixth form and have found it to be somewhere that an individual can expand their knowledge and gain skills for the future.  The support that students get from teachers in this school is incredible and it is an enjoyable atmosphere all-round.  The relationships with the teachers in the sixth form make the lessons more engaging and fun.  The school provide plenty of opportunities for personal development which will contribute greatly to my university application. Shaila, Year 13 student

Since I started at The Chalfonts in Year 7 I enjoyed every moment of it.  Our great sports teams gave me the opportunity to participate to a high standard with great coaches to help.  Every teacher that I ever had has been willing to talk and go over any queries to ensure my success.  I am proud and happy to say that I went to The Chalfonts Community College - I had a great Sixth Form experience. Llewelyn, Head Boy 2018 now studying Environmental Science at Southampton University
