Liberty Fundraising
The week commencing 20th November we fundraised in honour of Liberty Grace Schurer who sadly lost her life to cancer last month aged fourteen. Liberty had been a close friend of many of our Year 9 students and they were greatly
affected by it.
Sadie Lucas, one of Liberty’s best friends, wanted to continue Liberty’s fundraising after she passed away as it had been her wish to support other children with research into Ewings Sarcoma. From Tuesday to Thursday we had cake sales and a mixed netball tournament with twenty-one teams entered including a teachers team who played the students – that got the crowds worked up!
It was a hugely successful event and we managed to raise £565.69 for the Liberty Grace Schurer Remembrance Page with all donations going to Ewings Sarcoma Research Trust. I cannot thank enough the students who contributed their time by organising cake sales, umpiring games, helping with set-up, entering a team and generally supporting with a donation. We as a department are very proud of our students and will always support in any way we can with fundraising through sports events.
