On November 11th the drama department and a group of thirty dedicated students wrapped up their involvement in the Shakespeare Schools Festival. We are so grateful for the wonderful opportunity of performing A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth and being involved in workshops with professional directors and actors in the lead up to the performance.
Friday was a big day beginning at 8am on the bus to Rickmansworth and finishing at 10pm at the Watersmeet Theatre. Our students behaved professionally throughout the day and brought energy and enthusiasm to the stage to deliver a wonderful final performance. A special mention to Year 13 students Elena Catangiu (Set Designer), Emily Smart (Costume Designer), Kirsten Clow (Assistant Director) and Izzy Allen (Costume). These students put in a tireless effort and worked over their half term holidays to produce the wonderful work that brought the play to life.
We had the pleasure of rehearsing and performing with students from Rickmansworth Park Junior Mixed Infant School, John Lyon School and Garston Manor School who performed inspiring renditions of Hamlet, Henry V and Macbeth. Particularly inspiring for our students was the dedication and passion seen on stage by students from Garston Manor School.
Special thanks to Shirley Collins for helping us on the day, to Martha Noone for directing the performance and to Rebecca Clarke for taking the initiative of bringing Shakespeare Schools Festival to Chalfonts Community College and producing the show.
Overall a fantastic and rewarding experience for all involved!
