Year 11 Employability Skills Day
On Tuesday 31st October Year 11 students were off timetable for the day to experience an Employability Skills Day. Students spent time in the main hall talking to individuals representing a variety of professions ranging from healthcare, retail, engineering, the armed forces, creative media, filmmaking, hair & beauty, the music industry, pharmaceuticals ….
Students chose to attend four workshops from a list of twelve; these included an Introduction to Apprenticeships, Customer Services and First Impressions, Working in the Creative Sector, Careers in the Stem subjects, Going to University, Interview Skills, Working in Hospitality/Catering, Careers in Health Care, Working in the Beauty Industry, Starting a Business ….
Students also experienced a one to one interview with a professional from outside The College and had the opportunity to complete an on-line psychometric test.
The Employability Skills Day is a great opportunity for our students to broaden their knowledge and horizons, inspire them and further build their confidence. We are also hoping it will assist our young people to make well informed decisions about their futures. The students took full advantage of the day and were excellent ambassadors for our school!
The College welcomed over 90 visitors to the school. We would like to thank all the professionals who represented their field and organisation, those who delivered our workshops and to our parents who volunteered to interview our students; without their time, support and expertise the day would not have been possible.
